Listen Carefully!

Just came across this innovative way to crack some code by making a microphone listen very carefully. The researchers called this acoustic cryptanalysis... In this visually dominated world it's good to know that there are other ways to perceive reality and gain some information that others would like to keep secret. Not that I recommend doing this but as an example for creative curiosity, this ranks right up there with the best. Here's the link.

Gropius and Perception

While watching the Architectures movie about the Bauhaus again, the narrator quotes Walter Gropius as saying this about the perception of the Bauhaus as a three-dimensional artifact: “You must walk around the building to understand its materiality and the function of its various elements.” Well and good, even if Gropius didn’t understand thermal behavior.

Winston Churchill


Just found an interesting quote attributed to Winston Churchill, not that that in itself is interesting, but here it is:

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” 

Thanks, Winston, for this clarification, and with a distinctly British way of saying “Sir”, as heard toward the end of “The King’s Speech”, after which Winston tells George VI about his speech impediment, I sign off: “Sar!”
